Today, I learned about noodles. The topic of BBC 6 Minute English was "What's your favorite kind of noodle?". It was about the origin of noodle. The podcast said the noodle originated in China and introduced the opinion that the story Marco Polo bringing noodle to Italy was created as a marketing strategy by dried pasta company. The podcast explained Japanese noodle dish, ramen. It said Ramen continues to evolve, unlike other traditional japanese dishes like sushi.
After listening to the podcast, I searched other content about the topic. What I found was also about history of noodle. It was a Youtube channel for kids. The video explained the origin of the noodle in more detail. It said it would be safe to say the noodles originated in China because of an archaeological evidence. It also explained how noodle spread to other countries. There are three theories. One is by trading, another is by conquering, and the third is by Macro Polo.
In conclusion, while it is still unclear how the noodle spread around the world, their long history and the ongoing innovation continue to bring joy to our taste buds.
